Welcome from Tony Pedder OBE
Welcome to Sheffield Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust. You will doubtless know the Trust as one of the UK’s largest and most successful NHS foundation trusts. We employ 17,000 staff across our 5 hospitals and our community arm and have a turnover of £1.1 billion. We are an innovator in medical research, with a lot of research activity including hosting the Yorkshire region’s Clinical Research Network on behalf of the National Institute for Healthcare Research.
I want to highlight three other aspects of the Trust which also define who we are and which influence what this role potentially offers.
Firstly our vision, which captures the breadth and depth of our impact on patients: ‘To be recognised as the best provider of health, clinical research and education in the UK and a strong contributor to the aspiration of Sheffield to be a vibrant and healthy city region’. We play a very significant civic leadership role in the city of Sheffield and across the City Region, working particularly closely with the city’s two Universities.
Secondly, we are a values-led organisation. Through the appointment of our new Chief Executive the Board is determined that we continue to be. Our PROUD values exist to support us in our work to improve health and well-being, to support people to keep well, to get better when they are ill and, when they cannot fully recover, to stay as well as they can to the end of their lives. As our mission statement puts it ‘we touch lives at times of basic human need, when our care and compassion are what matter most’.
And finally, I feel it is important to highlight that we are an ambitious organisation. We are a regional leader, we influence nationally and we have a strong reputation internationally.
I hope that our ambition, our values and our vision inspire you to take a close look at us and to consider an application. Please contact Robin Staveley of GatenbySanderson for an initial conversation on 0113 205 6283.
