Description

Sheffield Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust is one of the UK’s biggest, busiest, and most successful NHS providers, providing a complete range of hospital and community services for the people of Sheffield, as well as specialist care for patients from further afield. Our 18,000 staff work both in the community and in our five hospitals and have a long history of providing high quality care and clinical excellence as well as an international reputation for innovation in health research. We are one of only a small number rated Good or Outstanding by the Care Quality Commission in all domains.  We are an important partner within the South Yorkshire and Bassetlaw system working with colleagues in other health and social care providers and commissioners to create an integrated approach that is focused on the future health, wellbeing, and prosperity of the vibrant and diverse populations that we serve.

Covid-19 has placed a significant and enduring demand on our dedicated workforce and there has never been a more critical time for a talented and compassionate leader to join us as our new Director of People. As a core member of our high performing unitary Board, you will lead on all aspects of people services and the development of staff across a workforce with a huge diversity of professional groups.  The pandemic has created opportunities for transformation and innovation in our service delivery and we will seek to build on new ways of working we have learnt; however, we recognise the lasting impact it has had on our staff, and we are committed to ensuring that we support their wellbeing as they address the wider health and care implications for our patients and populations.

We are seeking an inspirational and progressive leader with experience at Board level in a comparable and complex, customer-centric environment.  Bringing an engaging style, you will quickly build credibility and generate fresh ideas within the Trust and with a broad range of external stakeholders.  Aspiring to delivering responsive, innovative services that support our workforce to deliver and develop their full potential, most importantly you will also demonstrate a strong alignment with our PROUD values.  This is a unique opportunity to make your mark in a successful, values-driven organisation at the most important moment in the history of the NHS and to help us achieve our ambition of being recognised as the best provider of health, clinical research and education in the UK.

To find out more about this exciting opportunity to play a vital role in creating modern people services for a vibrant workforce of 18,000, contact our recruitment partners GatenbySanderson; Carmel Bell or Emma Pickup on 07917 826639 or via carmel.bell@gatenbysanderson.com.

Sheffield Teaching Hospitals aims to represent and value the diversity of our local communities through our workforce and service provision. We therefore positively encourage applications, irrespective of age, race, religion or belief, gender, gender identity, sexual orientation, marriage and civil partnership, pregnancy and maternity or disability.
