Board Recruitment

Dear Candidate

Thank you for your interest in joining the Board of Sheffield Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust.  As our role across the South Yorkshire and Bassetlaw health and care system evolves and adapts, we are looking for an individual with a professional background in sectors that shape the wider determinants of health and wellbeing. We would welcome applicants with Public Health, Education, Housing, Primary Care, Regeneration or Social Care experience, whether in the public, private or voluntary sector.  Your sound grasp of the national health and social care policy agenda will allow you to interpret the likely impact of change on Sheffield Teaching Hospitals and help set the direction for the future.

We are a values-led organisation and our dedicated workforce demonstrate these values every day.  Our PROUD values exist to support us in our work to improve health and well-being, to support people to keep well, to get better when they are ill and, when they cannot fully recover, to stay as well as they can to the end of their lives.

We are one of the UK’s largest and most successful NHS Foundation Trusts, employing 18,000 staff across our 5 hospitals and our community services and with a turnover of £1.1 billion.  We are an innovator in medical research, and this includes hosting the Yorkshire region’s Clinical Research Network on behalf of the National Institute for Healthcare Research.

Appointments to our Board are made by our Council of Governors, whose members are elected from the public, our staff and our partners.  The remit of our Non-Executive Directors includes bringing constructive challenge to the plans, strategies and culture, as well as encouraging innovative, fresh thinking within our high-performing organisation.

I hope that our values and our vision inspire you to take a close look at us and to consider an application.  Please contact Richard Murphy or Robin Staveley of GatenbySanderson on 0203 854 2219 for an initial conversation.

I look forward to meeting you during the process.

Annette Laban
